Long Lines and Heat Greet New AlpenFury Coaster at Canada’s Wonderland

Canada’s Wonderland has officially launched its newest attraction, the AlpenFury, which quickly became a popular draw at the Vaughan theme park. On July 12, 2025, thrill-seekers faced long wait times and soaring temperatures as they lined up for the much-anticipated launch coaster.
The excitement surrounding the AlpenFury was palpable, but it came with challenges. By late Saturday afternoon, temperatures reached 33.7°C, feeling as hot as 41°C with the humidex. The line for the ride stretched across the park, with estimated wait times reaching up to three hours for some visitors, according to BlogTO.
Many parkgoers took to social media to share their experiences and update others on the lengthy queues. One anonymous visitor reported the line was already extensive by 11 a.m., just an hour after the park opened. As the day progressed, social media posts provided real-time updates on where the line began, guiding prospective riders through the sweltering heat.
Despite the delays, which included some technical issues that led to a temporary closure, the ride resumed operation shortly thereafter. Grace Peacock, a spokesperson for Canada’s Wonderland, described the interruption as a “minor delay,” assuring visitors that the operations and maintenance team conducted a thorough review before reopening the ride.
Reviews from those who managed to experience AlpenFury have been overwhelmingly positive. One user on X remarked it might be their new favorite coaster, while another rated it a solid 9.5 out of 10, calling it “so intense” and the “best ride in the park for sure.” Some feedback was more tempered, with another visitor stating the ride was good but did not exceed their expectations.
The AlpenFury is being marketed as the country’s “longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster,” featuring nine inversions, the most for a launch coaster globally. This exhilarating ride reaches speeds of 115 km/h within a 1-km course, diving into the base of Wonder Mountain and rising to a height of 50 m before completing its run in just 80 seconds.
To help alleviate the wait times, Canada’s Wonderland is hosting a special fundraising event for SickKids Hospital on July 18. The “VIP AlpenFury Experience” offers an exclusive opportunity for parkgoers willing to pay $125, which includes admission to the park, a private ride window for AlpenFury and other attractions, parking, a catered lunch, and a complimentary FunPix ride photo.
With limited tickets available, the event promises a unique experience for those looking to beat the long lines while contributing to a charitable cause. As AlpenFury settles into its place among the attractions at Canada’s Wonderland, it is clear that this new coaster has already captured the attention and enthusiasm of visitors, despite the challenges of its opening weekend.
