Windsor Invites Public Feedback on New Roseland Clubhouse Designs

The City of Windsor is actively seeking public input on plans for a new clubhouse at the Roseland Golf Club, which will replace the existing facility scheduled for demolition later this year. Residents will have the opportunity to participate through an open house and an online survey aimed at gathering feedback on this South Windsor amenity.
Fred Francis, the Ward 1 Councillor representing the area and a member of the golf club’s board of directors, emphasized the importance of managing community expectations regarding the new facility. “The most important thing to the board is that Roseland remains profitable,” he stated. He noted that the current business model focuses primarily on golfing rather than event rentals, contributing to the club’s financial success.
The proposed new clubhouse will be significantly smaller than its predecessor, with a planned footprint of approximately 5,500 square feet. Design elements will prioritize golf operations, including features such as an upgraded restroom facility, storage areas, and an administrative section. The layout will also be oriented towards the golf course and putting green, with plans for outdoor seating and a convenient grab-and-go food and beverage service.
Residents can attend an in-person open house on July 31, 2024, from 15:00 to 19:00 at the Roseland clubhouse located at 455 Kennedy Dr. W.. This drop-in event will allow community members to view display boards and engage with project team members. Additionally, an online survey will be accessible starting on the same day, remaining open until August 15, 2024, enabling further public input.
The proposed concept for the new clubhouse will be presented at a future city council meeting for review. The City of Windsor has allocated approximately $5.7 million in its 10-year capital budget for the Roseland project. This funding encompasses the demolition of the current clubhouse, site servicing, and the design and construction of the new facility.
Drew Dilkens, the Mayor of Windsor, described the new clubhouse as a “significant” investment in the Roseland Golf Club. He stated that public consultation is a “key piece of the puzzle” and “vital to the overall success of the project.” The amenities and positioning of the future clubhouse, along with its offerings to the local neighbourhood and broader community, will play an essential role in guiding future growth and development at this site.
Through these initiatives, Windsor aims to ensure that the new clubhouse meets the needs of local golfers while maintaining the profitability and sustainability of the Roseland Golf Club.
