Windsor Police Investigate Late-Night Road Rage Shooting

Windsor police are investigating a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting late Saturday night. Officers responded to the 1300 block of Riverside Drive East at 23:00 after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle with damage to its rear window that appeared to be caused by a bullet.
The incident reportedly began when two vehicles were traveling eastbound on Riverside Drive. An altercation unfolded when one driver shouted obscenities at another. This confrontation culminated when an occupant of the aggressive vehicle discharged a firearm at the complainant’s car. The suspect vehicle fled the scene shortly after the shooting, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The suspect vehicle is described as a late-model, four-door sedan, possibly in a grey or chocolate brown color. The driver is characterized as a Black male in his 20s. There were two additional occupants in the vehicle, but no further descriptions have been made available.
Ongoing Investigation by Major Crimes Unit
The investigation is being led by the Major Crimes Unit of the Windsor Police Service. Detectives are actively seeking assistance from the community, particularly from residents and businesses in the vicinity. They are encouraging anyone who may have dashcam or surveillance footage recorded between 22:30 and 23:30 on July 26, 2023, to come forward with any relevant information.
