Vancouver Island Hosts Groundbreaking Live Hologram Showcase
A significant technological advancement is set to unfold on Vancouver Island, as Nanaimo prepares to host the first live hologram showcase during the upcoming Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit. This innovative event will feature speakers from around the globe appearing as holograms, marking a noteworthy intersection of technology and business.
The collaboration between FuturVille, Proto Hologram, and the Vancouver Island Conference Centre has made this showcase possible. Attendees will witness the keynote address from Paul Healy, a partner at Futurus in Ireland, who will be “livebeamed” into the venue. This event, scheduled for October 28-30, 2025, is expected to draw over 600 participants, including leaders from business, government, First Nations, and community organizations.
Julie Sperber, the executive director of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance, emphasized the importance of this technology in fostering meaningful connections. “Our goal is to make global connections feel local,” she stated. “This technology helps Vancouver Island leaders experience the power of AI and innovation firsthand — connecting your business and community in ways that make the world feel smaller.”
The implications of holographic technology extend beyond this summit. Organizers anticipate its integration into various workplaces and community spaces across Vancouver Island in the future.
FuturVille, based in Nanaimo, is focused on health and longevity. Angela Fay, the founder, explained how holographic communication can revolutionize healthcare delivery. She noted that “powered by the same Star-Trek inspired tech that once lived only in our imaginations, healthcare professionals can use ‘holohealth’ solutions to expand healthcare delivery to regional communities, enhance customer service offerings, or even establish full-service walk-in clinics with reduced costs.”
As the first live showcase of this cutting-edge innovation approaches, it represents a pioneering step in how technology can reshape business interactions and healthcare delivery. The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit promises to be a landmark event, setting the stage for future advancements in communication technology.
