Vancouver Island Set to Debut Live Hologram Showcase at Summit
Vancouver Island is preparing to host its first live hologram showcase during the upcoming Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit. This event, scheduled for October 28-30, 2025, will feature speakers from around the world appearing as holograms, a technological innovation made possible through a collaboration between FuturVille, Proto Hologram, and the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
The summit will welcome over 600 attendees, including business leaders, government officials, First Nations representatives, and community organizers. This groundbreaking event aims to demonstrate how holographic technology can facilitate global connections while creating a local impact.
Julie Sperber, executive director of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance, emphasized the significance of the technology, stating, “Our goal is to make global connections feel local. This technology helps Vancouver Island leaders experience the power of AI and innovation first-hand — connecting your business and community in ways that make the world feel smaller.”
Among the highlights of the event will be a keynote address delivered by Paul Healy, a partner at Futurus in Ireland, who will be “livebeamed” into Nanaimo. This innovative presentation method showcases the potential of holograms in enhancing communication and engagement at events.
The collaboration aims to transform how businesses and communities interact. FuturVille, based in Nanaimo, is dedicated to promoting health and longevity through advanced communication technologies. Angela Fay, founder of FuturVille, highlighted the potential applications of holographic solutions in healthcare. “Powered by the same Star-Trek inspired tech that once lived only in our imaginations, healthcare professionals can use ‘holohealth’ solutions to expand healthcare delivery to regional communities,” she explained.
Organizers of the summit view this event as a significant milestone in the adoption of holographic technologies, with plans for further integration into workplaces and community spaces across Vancouver Island. The potential for holograms to revolutionize business practices and enhance service delivery is gaining traction, particularly in sectors such as healthcare.
As the countdown to the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit continues, attendees are eager to witness the first live showcase of this cutting-edge technology. The implications for communication and collaboration in various fields are profound, making this event a notable moment in the intersection of technology and community engagement.
