Atlanta Falcons Secure Kaleb McGary with $30 Million Deal

The Atlanta Falcons have solidified their offensive line for the coming seasons by signing right tackle Kaleb McGary to a two-year extension worth $30 million. The deal, confirmed by McGary’s agent Collin Roberts to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, ensures that the 30-year-old tackle will help protect the blindside of newly acquired left-handed quarterback Michael Penix Jr..

Standing at 6 feet 6 inches and weighing 330 pounds, McGary is entering his seventh season in the NFL. The Falcons selected him with the 31st overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Known for his strong run-blocking ability, McGary will play a crucial role in the team’s offensive strategy as they look to enhance their performance this season.

Despite concerns surrounding his contract status, McGary expressed confidence about his game and the upcoming season. “I’m not really worried about it. I’m worried about the season and if I don’t do my job well enough, then there’s not much reason to worry about it,” he stated two weeks ago. McGary’s focus on performance aligns with the Falcons’ goal of maintaining continuity along the offensive line.

In preparation for the season, McGary underwent surgery to address bone spurs in his left ankle, which caused him to miss organized team activities and minicamp. He has since returned to full form for training camp, remarking, “I don’t know if I’ve had a joint feel as good in a long time.”

Strengthening the Offensive Line

Continuity is key for the Falcons as they aim to build a cohesive offensive unit. Alongside McGary, Chris Lindstrom, a Pro Bowl right guard, and Jake Matthews, a reliable left tackle, are both signed through 2028. Furthermore, left guard Matthew Bergeron has two seasons remaining on his rookie contract, while Ryan Neuzil, who has replaced Drew Dalman as the starting center, is also secured through 2026.
