Auburn Dominates South Alabama 31-15 Behind Jackson Arnold’s Performance
AUBURN, Ala. — In a commanding display, the No. 24 Auburn Tigers secured a 31-15 victory over South Alabama on Saturday, propelled by quarterback Jackson Arnold, who accounted for three touchdowns, including two on the ground. This win marks Auburn’s third consecutive victory, improving their record to 3-0.
The Tigers celebrated their “White Out” game in style, donning all-white uniforms for the first time in 15 years. Auburn’s balanced offensive attack was evident as they accumulated a total of 195 rushing yards and 142 passing yards. Jeremiah Cobb emerged as a standout performer, rushing for 119 yards and scoring one touchdown. With this performance, Cobb has now recorded a career-high four rushing touchdowns over the first three games of the season.
Auburn’s scoring opened with a touchdown reception by Cam Coleman, marking his first touchdown of the 2025 season. Eric Singleton Jr. proved to be a reliable target, leading the team with six receptions for 65 yards.
On the opposing side, Bishop Davenport of South Alabama managed to throw for 170 yards and two touchdowns, though his performance was marred by an interception. The Jaguars, now at 1-2 for the season, struggled with penalties and defensive errors that hindered their ability to stay competitive, despite finishing the game with 310 total yards.
Auburn’s ranking in the latest AP Top 25 college football poll marks the first time the Tigers have been ranked during the era of head coach Hugh Freeze. This win positions them favorably as they look to climb further in the rankings.
The Tigers will face a significant challenge next week as they begin SEC play against No. 13 Oklahoma, where Arnold will be up against his former team. Meanwhile, South Alabama will return home to Hancock Whitney Stadium to take on Coastal Carolina, aiming to rebound after two consecutive losses.
As the season progresses, both teams will be looking to build momentum. Auburn’s strong start has fans hopeful for a successful campaign, while South Alabama seeks to rectify their recent struggles in the Sun Belt Conference.
