Blues Sign Robby Fabbri to One-Year Contract, Kyrou Injured
The St. Louis Blues have re-signed forward Robby Fabbri to a one-year, two-way contract valued at $775,000 at the NHL level. This marks Fabbri’s return to the organization after a period spent with the Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks.
Fabbri, who was drafted 21st overall by the Blues in the 2014 NHL Draft, played with the team until the 2019-20 season. During his time in St. Louis, he contributed significantly to the team’s success, including being part of the squad that clinched the 2019 Stanley Cup. In that playoff run, he scored one goal in ten games, demonstrating his capability in high-pressure situations.
Over his tenure with the Blues, the Mississauga, Ontario native recorded a total of 32 goals and 41 assists across 164 regular-season games. Following his departure from St. Louis, Fabbri spent five seasons with the Red Wings, where he continued to develop his skills and contribute to the team’s offensive efforts. Last season, he was traded to the Ducks, where he added eight goals and eight assists in 44 games.
As the Blues look to strengthen their roster, Fabbri’s experience could be crucial, especially with the recent injury to teammate Jordan Kyrou. Kyrou has been placed on injured reserve due to a lower body injury and is expected to be out for a week. This situation adds urgency to Fabbri’s signing, as he will be joining the team in Nashville, where the Blues are scheduled to face the Nashville Predators on March 7, 2024.
Fabbri’s return not only brings depth to the Blues’ forward lineup but also rekindles his connection with the team that drafted him. As the season progresses, his contributions will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike, particularly in light of the Blues’ recent challenges on the ice.
