Buccaneers’ Mayfield, Godwin, and Wirfs Set to Play Against Eagles
Three pivotal players for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are anticipated to make their return on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Quarterback Baker Mayfield, wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr., and left tackle Tristan Wirfs were all listed as questionable but are expected to participate in the game, according to information from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Mayfield has been dealing with a right biceps injury, which limited his practice participation throughout the week. He was observed wearing a sleeve on his arm, but Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles expressed confidence on Friday, stating that the quarterback “should be OK for Sunday.”
Godwin and Wirfs Return for 2025 Debut
Both Godwin and Wirfs will be making their 2025 season debuts after missing the first three games. They were full participants in practice on Friday, indicating their readiness to contribute against the Eagles. Godwin’s return is particularly significant as it coincides with the absence of leading wide receiver Mike Evans, who is expected to miss three to four weeks due to a strained left hamstring. ESPN’s Jenna Laine reported earlier this week that Godwin’s presence will be vital in filling the gap left by Evans.
The Buccaneers are looking to solidify their offensive line and improve their standing in the competitive NFC South. With Mayfield at the helm, and the return of key players like Godwin and Wirfs, the team hopes to gain momentum as they head into this crucial matchup against the Eagles.
Fans and analysts alike will be closely watching how these players perform, especially in light of their recent injuries. The game is set to kick off at 17:00 UTC, promising an exciting showdown between two teams vying for playoff positioning.
