Buffalo Sabres Sign Conor Timmins to Two-Year Contract
The Buffalo Sabres have finalized a contract extension with defenceman Conor Timmins, securing him for two years at a total value of $4.4 million. The announcement was made on Sunday, marking a significant move for the team as they bolster their defensive lineup.
Timmins, 26, joined the Sabres earlier this summer during a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins that took place on June 28, 2023, the second day of the NHL Draft. In exchange for Timmins, the Sabres sent defenceman Connor Clifton and the 39th overall pick back to Pittsburgh. The deal also included the acquisition of defenceman Isaac Belliveau.
Last season, Timmins had a split tenure, starting with the Toronto Maple Leafs before moving to the Penguins at the trade deadline. Throughout the season, he appeared in 68 games and contributed three goals along with 12 assists. His performance reflects a strong capability to support the defensive needs of his new team.
The addition of Timmins is part of the Sabres’ strategy to enhance their roster as they aim for a more competitive season. His experience and skills on the ice are expected to play a vital role in the team’s efforts to improve their standings in the league.
With this contract, the Sabres hope to not only strengthen their defense but also foster Timmins’ growth as a player within their system. The team’s management has expressed optimism about the potential impact he can have in the upcoming season.
