The Milan Cortina Olympics is now in its third day of competition, with Canada determined to add to its medal tally following a bronze in speed skating on February 7, 2026. As athletes compete across various sports, Canadian teams and individuals are poised to make their mark.

Mixed Doubles Curling and Upcoming Events

The mixed doubles curling team of Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant faced Switzerland in their final match of the tournament. Unfortunately, they were no longer in playoff contention after suffering two losses on February 8. Despite this setback, the duo remained focused on finishing strong.

In a bid for Canada’s second medal of the Winter Games, slopestyle skiers Meghan Oldham and Naomi Urness will compete in the women’s slopestyle final later today. Oldham, hailing from Parry Sound, Ontario, and Urness from Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, will showcase their skills at Livigno Snow Park.

The Canadian women’s hockey team is also in action today, taking on Czechia in their second preliminary round game. They previously secured a convincing 4-0 victory against Switzerland on February 7, building momentum as they pursue gold.

Figure Skating Highlights

Figure skating continues to be a focal point for Canadian athletes, with three pairs participating in the ice dance event’s rhythm segment. Piper Gilles from Toronto and Paul Poirier of Unionville, Ontario, are particularly noteworthy, having earned silver medals at the last two world championships. Their performance today could potentially elevate Canada’s standing in the figure skating discipline.

As the Olympics progress, all eyes remain on the Canadian athletes as they strive for excellence and aim to enhance their medal count in Milan Cortina.
