Halton Residents Unite for Adam Malki Legacy Walkathon
Halton residents are invited to participate in the Adam Malki Legacy Walkathon, taking place on September 13, 2023, at Milton Community Sports Park. This event aims to honour the memory of Adam Malki, a 17-year-old student and football player tragically killed in a car accident last December. The walkathon will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., raising funds for the Adam Malki Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in collaboration with the Halton Learning Foundation.
Organizers are calling for the “Power of 100,” encouraging participants to pledge or raise $100 each, hoping to attract 100 supporters to join the cause. The event promises to be a community celebration, featuring music, entertainment, food trucks, children’s activities, and prize giveaways.
Heba Ahmed Malki, Adam’s mother and founder of the scholarship fund, spoke passionately about the initiative. “This walk is my way of continuing Adam’s legacy. His kindness and spirit deserve to live on,” she stated. Last spring, she awarded nine scholarships to graduates of Milton District High School, with aspirations to expand the bursary in the future. “My hope is that people walk with us, give generously, and help us turn grief into a legacy of hope,” Malki added.
Community members are encouraged to join the walkathon as a way to celebrate Adam’s life and support local youth initiatives. Interested participants can register online to take part in the event. Those who wish to contribute to the scholarship fund can do so through the Halton Learning Foundation website.
This walkathon not only serves as a tribute to a beloved young man but also aims to foster a sense of community and support for the future generations of Halton.
