Manchester United Pursues Gallagher Amid January Transfer Buzz
Manchester United is reportedly leading the race to sign Conor Gallagher from Atlético Madrid as the January transfer window approaches. The 25-year-old midfielder has been on United’s radar since last summer when they attempted to secure him on loan, but Atlético Madrid declined their offer. With Atlético now considering a permanent deal worth approximately €30 million, Gallagher is eager for a transfer that could enhance his chances of being selected for the England squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
Gallagher, who has not been a priority for United in previous windows, is now a key target for manager Ruben Amorim. His current situation at Atlético, where he has struggled for consistent playing time, has prompted speculation about his future. There is growing interest from other Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur, all eyeing the talented midfielder as a potential signing in January.
In addition to Gallagher, Manchester United, along with Real Madrid and Barcelona, is closely monitoring Nathaniel Brown, a left-back from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 22-year-old has made a name for himself in the Bundesliga, particularly with his impressive performances against teams like Cologne and Atalanta. Having earned his first full international cap in October, Brown has emerged as one of the most exciting young defenders in Germany. Eintracht Frankfurt is expected to demand around €60 million for his transfer, which could take place in the summer of 2026.
Manchester United is not the only club exploring the transfer market. Arsenal is considering a move for Karim Adeyemi, a versatile forward from Borussia Dortmund. The Gunners are seeking further attacking options, with Adeyemi potentially available next summer. Dortmund values the 23-year-old at around €80 million, following his impressive record of 28 goal contributions in 56 appearances.
Meanwhile, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is reportedly interested in reuniting with defender Nico Schlotterbeck, whom he had previously given his debut for the German national team. With Schlotterbeck’s contract expiring in 2027 and no agreement on an extension, a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid seems likely, although Liverpool is also in the mix.
In other transfer news, Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford is contemplating his future after just five months at the club, especially following the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma. Trafford, who joined from Burnley for £27 million, has not seen Premier League action since Donnarumma’s signing and now faces uncertainty regarding his role in the England squad.
There is also interest in young talents across Europe. Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly in talks to sign Luis Eduardo, a 17-year-old center-back from Gremio, while Tottenham Hotspur is eyeing midfield targets Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton. Both players could command fees exceeding £100 million.
As the January transfer window approaches, clubs are actively assessing their options, with players like Gallagher and Brown at the forefront of many discussions. The next few months promise to be eventful as teams vie for top talent in a competitive market.
