The 18-year-old from Muskoka, Ontario, achieved this milestone on September 22, 2025, by winning the women’s 200-metre individual medley SM9 with a time of 2:32.90.

Jibb’s performance showcased her determination and skill. After initially placing fourth in the butterfly segment, she advanced to second at the 100-metre and 150-metre marks. Displaying exceptional strength, Jibb dominated the final leg, finishing well ahead of her competitors. Anastasiya Dmytriv of Spain took the silver, clocking in at 2:35.36, while Hungary’s Zsófia Konkoly, the reigning Paralympic champion and two-time world titleholder, settled for bronze in 2:36.09.

On the second day of the championships, Canada continued to impress. Katie Cosgriffe from Burlington, Ontario, narrowly missed the podium in the women’s 200-metre individual medley SM10, finishing fourth with a personal best of 2:32.36. She was only 0.29 seconds shy of securing a medal.

Canada entered the championships with a strong start, having earned two bronze medals on the opening day, thanks to athletes Nicholas Bennett and Arianna Hunsicker. The competition is set to continue through Sunday, promising more excitement and potential for Canadian swimmers.

Jibb’s gold medal not only highlights her individual talent but also marks a significant achievement for Canada in the world of para swimming. As the event unfolds, the Canadian team aims to build on this momentum and showcase their skills on the international stage.
