NFL Week 15 Preview: Key Matchups and Fantasy Insights
Week 15 of the 2025 NFL season kicked off with the Atlanta Falcons achieving a dramatic comeback victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As the action continues into the weekend, several key trends, fantasy insights, and quarterback situations are emerging, shaping the narratives for the remaining games.
Analysts have identified critical statistics and player performances to monitor closely as teams vie for playoff positioning. The weekend features a slate of intriguing matchups, with fantasy managers and sports bettors looking for insights to guide their decisions.
Statistical Trends to Watch
Analytics writer Seth Walder highlights three significant statistical trends that could influence outcomes this weekend. One notable trend involves crossing routes against the Kansas City Chiefs’ defense. While Kansas City ranks 14th in success rate allowed at 44%, their performance against crossing routes is concerning, allowing a 63% success rate—ranking them fourth worst in the league. This bodes well for the Los Angeles Chargers, particularly for wide receiver Ladd McConkey, who runs crossing routes 16% of the time. In their earlier meeting this season, McConkey recorded six receptions for 74 yards against the Chiefs.
The Indianapolis Colts face a tough challenge against the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have established themselves as a formidable defensive unit, particularly against the run, ranking first in EPA allowed per designed run and second in success rate allowed. This is compounded by the Colts’ uncertainty at quarterback, following the injury to Daniel Jones.
Another matchup to watch is the Baltimore Ravens against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens utilize their tight ends heavily, with 31% of their passing targets aimed at that position. The Bengals struggle defensively against tight ends, allowing the highest percentage of passing targets in this category. A robust performance from Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely could be crucial for the Ravens as they pursue a postseason berth.
Fantasy Sleepers and Key Players
Fantasy analyst Eric Moody identifies five players rostered in fewer than 50% of ESPN leagues who could make an impact this week.
Trevor Lawrence, quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is gaining momentum and is currently rostered in 43.6% of leagues. He has scored at least 17 fantasy points in his last three games, making him a viable option against a struggling New York Jets defense.
Wide receiver Jayden Higgins of the Houston Texans, with a roster percentage of 38.9%, remains a strong candidate despite a dip in performance last week. Facing a vulnerable Arizona Cardinals defense, he could see significant opportunities.
Running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. from the Washington Commanders has been a consistent performer, averaging over 57 rushing yards in his last three outings. His matchup against the New York Giants, who allow the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs, positions him for potential success.
Quarterback Marcus Mariota may step in for the Commanders as Jayden Daniels recovers from injury. Mariota’s experience and ability to connect with targets like Terry McLaurin could yield positive fantasy results, especially against a Giants defense that has struggled.
Lastly, tight end Isaiah Likely has emerged as a streaming option, especially with the Bengals’ defense allowing the most fantasy points to tight ends. Likely has recorded solid performances recently and could be a valuable asset this week.
Analyst Ben Solak anticipates surprises, suggesting that the Philadelphia Eagles offense may show improvement against the Las Vegas Raiders. Following a challenging game in Los Angeles, the Eagles are expected to capitalize on a more favorable matchup.
The dynamics surrounding Jalen Hurts are also under scrutiny. After a series of turnovers, including five in a recent game, the pressure is on the reigning Super Bowl champion to elevate his game. The Eagles have lost three consecutive matches, raising questions about their ability to protect the ball and support their defense.
As the weekend unfolds, all eyes will be on these matchups, statistics, and player performances that could define the playoff race and fantasy outcomes in NFL Week 15.
