Thunderstorm Delays Manitoba Open, New Start Time Set for Friday
A significant late-summer thunderstorm has forced officials to postpone the start of the Manitoba Open until Friday, September 15, 2023. Originally scheduled to commence early Thursday morning at the Breezy Bend Country Club, the heavy rainfall overnight rendered the course too saturated for the scheduled 156 competitors to tee off.
The opening round is now slated to begin at 07:30Braxton Kuntz from Winnipeg and Evan Nachtigall from Brandon. They will be joined by Eric Comrie, goaltender for the Winnipeg Jets, who is participating through a sponsor’s exemption.
For those interested in attending, admission is free for spectators under 18. Further details regarding the tournament, including ticket information, can be found on the official tournament website, which also offers specific tee times and an up-to-date leaderboard.
The postponement of the Manitoba Open highlights the challenges posed by unpredictable weather conditions during late summer. As the tournament progresses, the local community and sports enthusiasts will be eager to see how the competition unfolds following the delay.
