Titans’ Jeffery Simmons Burglarized During Game in San Francisco
Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons experienced a burglary at his home while he was playing an away game against the San Francisco 49ers. The incident occurred during the Titans’ 37-24 loss on Sunday, and Simmons took to social media to express his shock upon discovering the break-in.
Simmons shared several Instagram stories that hinted at his distress following the game. One post included footage from a home security system, showing two masked individuals entering his residence through the patio around 19:30 CST on Sunday evening. The Titans released a statement confirming that the team’s security is collaborating with the Metro Nashville Police Department to investigate the theft and recover items taken from Simmons’ home. At the time of the incident, no residents were present.
In his social media posts, Simmons conveyed a sense of relief that his family was not home during the burglary, stating, “What if any of my family members was in my house?? All that materialistic (expletive) you can have but this is crazy!” His emotional response highlights the potential danger such incidents pose to families.
On the field, Simmons made history during the game by becoming the sixth player on record to achieve a sack, forced fumble, and touchdown in a single game. He caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cam Ward, marking the second receiving touchdown of Simmons’ career. This noteworthy performance stood in stark contrast to the distressing events occurring off the field.
The circumstances surrounding the break-in raise questions about a broader trend of targeted burglaries involving the homes of professional athletes. In December 2024, the FBI alerted various sports leagues about organized crime groups that had been reportedly targeting athletes’ homes while they were away. Notable athletes such as Luca Doncic, Bobby Portis, Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Burrow were mentioned in connection with these incidents. Investigators suggested that organized theft groups from South America were behind these crimes, emphasizing the need for heightened security measures among players and their families.
As the investigation into Simmons’ burglary unfolds, the Titans organization and law enforcement are working diligently to ensure the safety of not only Simmons but also other athletes who may be at risk. The incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities that come with fame and the importance of home security for those in the public eye.
