Xhekaj Brothers Showcase Strength and Bond at Canadiens Practice
The dynamic bond between brothers Florian and Arber Xhekaj captured the attention of hockey fans during a recent practice session with the Montreal Canadiens. While Arber Xhekaj competes with the Canadiens this season, Florian plays for the CH’s club-school, yet they had the opportunity to share the ice during a warm-up game against the Ottawa Senators in Quebec City. The matchup not only showcased their skills but also included several fights, highlighting the intense spirit that often characterizes NHL games.
Both brothers have made notable physical transformations as they prepare for the season. Florian, who stood at 6’3″ and weighed just over 190 pounds last year, has added strength, now tipping the scales at a solid 205 pounds. Their mother, Simona Xhekaj, recently shared a glimpse into their post-practice meals, emphasizing their rigorous training and nutritional needs.
“This is a sample of boys breakfast, post workout,”
Simona posted on Twitter, showcasing a hearty meal that is estimated to exceed 1,100 calories, according to artificial intelligence analysis based on the photo.
Arber Xhekaj, weighing nearly 240 pounds, has also made impressive strides in his fitness journey. Reports indicate that he has significantly reduced his body fat percentage over the summer, suggesting a commitment to improving his speed and agility on the ice. This transformation was noted by sports analyst Anthony Martineau, who highlighted Arber’s increased physical fitness through his social media updates.
As the season progresses, Florian will be competing in Laval, where his performances may earn him a call-up to the Canadiens if opportunities arise. The potential for both brothers to play together in a regular-season game remains a point of excitement for their fans.
The Laval Rocket, the affiliate team for the Canadiens, recently secured their first victory of the season, triumphing 5-2 against the Manitoba Moose. Laurent Dauphin stood out with three points, while Joshua Roy netted two goals, contributing to the team’s strong start.
Looking ahead, the Rocket will host their home opener against the Abbotsford Canucks, an event that promises to engage local fans and further showcase the talent within the Canadiens’ organization.
As the Xhekaj brothers continue to develop their skills, hockey enthusiasts will be eager to see how their journeys unfold this season and whether they will share the ice in the NHL once again.
