Zach Edey Scores Career-High 32 Points, Leads Grizzlies to Victory
Zach Edey showcased an impressive performance, scoring a career-high 32 points while securing 17 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Sacramento Kings 115-107 at the Golden 1 Center on March 10, 2024. Edey, in just 29 minutes of play, shot an efficient 16 of 20 from the field, marking his third double-double of the season.
The Grizzlies, missing star player Ja Morant, managed to maintain a lead for most of the game. Edey’s scoring prowess shone particularly in the final moments, where he contributed six points in the last three and a half minutes to secure the win for Memphis. His dominance near the basket was pivotal, especially as the Kings mounted a late comeback attempt.
Memphis built a significant lead early, but Sacramento fought back from a 13-point deficit in the third quarter, eventually taking an 87-83 lead into the final quarter. The Grizzlies responded with a quick 14-2 run to regain control, culminating in Edey’s clutch performance down the stretch.
In addition to Edey’s standout play, the Grizzlies received valuable contributions from other players. Cam Spencer added 16 points, while both Jaylen Wells and Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Veteran Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also contributed 13 points to the team’s efforts.
On the opposing side, the Kings saw notable performances from DeMar DeRozan, who scored 23 points and hit three 3-pointers, and Malik Monk, who added 21 points. Zach LaVine contributed 19 points after recently posting a season-high 34 points in a loss to the Utah Jazz.
The Grizzlies’ victory marked their fourth consecutive win on the road, showcasing their resilience without Morant. Looking ahead, Memphis will face the San Antonio Spurs on March 12, 2024, while Sacramento prepares to take on the Houston Rockets on March 13, 2024.
This latest win reinforces the Grizzlies’ competitive edge as they navigate the season, especially with emerging talents like Edey stepping up in critical moments.
