Apple Revives Slide Over in iPadOS 26.1 Beta 2 Release
Apple has introduced the second developer beta of iPadOS 26.1, which notably reinstates the popular Slide Over multitasking feature. Released on March 18, 2024, this update follows the initial developer beta launched two weeks earlier and carries the build number 23B5059e.
This iteration of iPadOS 26 and its counterpart, iOS 26, come packed with a range of enhancements designed to improve user experience. Among these improvements are new screening capabilities for the Phone and Messages applications, which offer users more functionality and ease of access. Additionally, a new dedicated Games application has been introduced, enhancing the gaming experience on Apple devices.
The design of this operating system update also features the innovative Liquid Glass aesthetic, which aims to provide a cleaner and more intuitive interface. These developments reflect Apple’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its software ecosystem, focusing on both productivity and leisure.
The return of the Slide Over feature allows users to easily multitask by placing applications side by side, significantly improving workflow efficiency. This capability has been a long-requested addition from users who rely on multiple applications simultaneously for their tasks.
As developers continue to test the beta, feedback will likely shape the final release, expected later this year. Apple’s commitment to integrating user feedback into their updates is evident as they refine their offerings, ensuring that improvements meet the needs of their diverse user base.
For users eager to explore the new features, downloading the beta is available through Apple’s Developer Program. This allows for hands-on experience with the latest updates while contributing to the overall enhancement of Apple’s software.
