Aura Unveils Innovative E-Paper Photo Frame for Cord-Free Living

Aura has introduced its latest innovation, the Ink Frame, a color e-paper photo frame designed for those seeking a cord-free experience. This new model utilizes a technology similar to the Kindle Colorsoft e-reader, offering a display that mimics the look of printed photographs rather than traditional digital screens.
Advanced Display Technology
The Ink Frame features a 13.3-inch E Ink Spectra 6 display, boasting a resolution of 1600 x 1200 and a 4:3 aspect ratio. Unlike Aura’s previous LCD-based frames, the Ink Frame employs e-ink technology, allowing it to operate without cords. This makes it especially suitable for mounting in various locations throughout the home. Although the Spectra 6 supports six colors, Aura has implemented a dithering algorithm that creates the illusion of millions of tones, enhancing the visual quality of the photos displayed.
The frame includes paper-textured matting and a glossy finish, giving it the aesthetic of a traditional picture frame. Users can position it in either portrait or landscape orientation, and it comes equipped with the necessary hardware for both tabletop and wall mounting.
Energy Efficiency and User Features
One of the standout features of the Ink Frame is its impressive battery life, reportedly lasting up to three months on a single charge. It includes a USB-C port, a status light, and button controls for easy navigation between photos. The frame can automatically transition to a new image overnight, a process that takes approximately 30 seconds. This transition involves rearranging millions of capsules on the screen, resulting in a brief flash that occurs while users are likely asleep, minimizing disruption.
Additionally, the Ink Frame employs motion sensors to turn off the light when no one is present, further conserving battery life. Users can customize their on/off schedule through the accompanying mobile app. The device also features a built-in front light that adjusts according to the room’s ambient lighting, turning off automatically in the dark.
Pricing and Availability
The Ink Frame is available for purchase at a price of $499 and can be ordered directly from the Aura website starting today. Like Aura’s other frames, it supports unlimited photo uploads to the company’s cloud service. Users can also receive photos from friends and family through the Aura app, making it a versatile addition to any home.
Aura’s latest offering combines cutting-edge technology with user-friendly features, catering to individuals who prefer a sleek, cord-free design while enjoying high-quality displays reminiscent of traditional photographs.
