DuRoBo Launches AI-Powered Pocket ePaper Hub at CES 2026
DuRoBo, a Netherlands-based e-paper specialist, has unveiled its latest innovation, the Krono, at the prestigious CES 2026 in Las Vegas. This pocket-sized smart ePaper focus hub is designed to enhance reading and idea capture, offering a solution to the distractions often encountered on smartphones. With a commitment to providing a dedicated space for reflection and creativity, DuRoBo aims to redefine the way users interact with digital content.
The Krono features a 6.13-inch E Ink Carta 1200 display that boasts 300 PPI clarity, presented in a minimalist design measuring 154 × 80 × 9 mm and weighing approximately 173 grams. This compact device is engineered for capturing and organizing thoughts, integrating on-device artificial intelligence (AI), ambient audio, and a tactile Smart Dial for an intuitive user experience.
Innovative Design for Enhanced Focus
The ePaper screen’s anti-glare coating and dual-tone frontlight facilitate comfortable reading, whether it involves books, saved articles, or PDFs. Its size and weight make it portable, encouraging users to carry it as a dedicated device for focused content consumption. The display closely resembles paper, allowing for hours of reading without the discomfort associated with traditional backlit screens.
Central to the Krono‘s interaction is its Smart Dial and Axis bar. The dial enables users to navigate pages, adjust brightness and volume, and access Spark, the device’s idea vault, through a long press. The Axis, located along the top rear, features eight ambient lights that glow softly to enhance the reading atmosphere, providing a calming experience that separates it from typical digital devices.
AI integration is a standout feature, with the device allowing users to dictate thoughts or notes directly via the Smart Dial. Krono transcribes and summarizes these inputs, generating structured notes that can be further refined on the e-paper screen, all while maintaining user privacy through on-device processing.
Powerful Performance and Versatile Features
Equipped with Android 15, the Krono supports full access to the Google Play Store. It runs on an octa-core processor complemented by 6 GB of RAM and offers 128 GB of storage, ensuring compatibility with various applications such as Kindle and Notion. DuRoBo has designed its interface to be geometric and minimal, enhancing user engagement while avoiding distractions.
The device also incorporates a built-in speaker and Bluetooth audio capabilities, allowing users to enjoy music, podcasts, or audiobooks while reading or writing. This feature transforms the Krono into a self-sufficient environment, ideal for commutes or late-night sessions. Its 3,950 mAh battery and optimized refresh algorithms support prolonged use without the need for frequent app-switching, aligning with the device’s purpose of fostering uninterrupted focus.
The introduction of the Krono at CES 2026 signifies more than just another e-reader entry into the market. DuRoBo seeks to offer a unique pocketable solution for US consumers, addressing the essential aspects of focus, reflection, and idea capture through thoughtful design. The specifications are impressive, but the true promise lies in creating a quiet, portable object that bridges the gap between a book and a smartphone, capitalizing on the strengths of both while minimizing their typical distractions.
