Google Maps is set to introduce a significant improvement designed to streamline outing planning with friends and family. The new feature, known as “Share Search Results,” will allow users to conveniently share multiple location suggestions from their search results, enhancing the app’s utility for group trips and outings.

New Sharing Capabilities on the Horizon

For frequent users of Google Maps, sharing individual locations has often been a cumbersome task, especially when coordinating plans with a group. The upcoming update aims to simplify this process. According to an analysis by Android Authority, Google is in the process of developing the Share Search Results feature, which will enable users to share a curated list of locations with ease.

When a user performs a search, such as “best restaurants nearby,” they will soon see a “Share” button next to their search results. Tapping this button will allow them to share the top ten results instantly with other users, facilitating smoother communication and decision-making.

Streamlining Group Trip Planning

Planning group outings can often be a challenge, particularly when it comes to selecting the best venues. The new feature aims to act as a virtual concierge, generating a list of the ten most relevant places based on the user’s search criteria. While these initial suggestions will be automatically generated, users will retain the ability to customize the selections to better suit their preferences.

This enhancement could significantly ease the burden of trip planning. Instead of individually sifting through locations and sharing them one by one, users will be able to collaborate more effectively, making group decisions quicker and more efficient.

As of now, the Share Search Results feature is still under development and testing. It remains to be seen when it will be officially rolled out to the wider user base. For those who rely on Google Maps for navigation and exploration, this forthcoming feature could represent a valuable upgrade in how they plan outings.
