Lee County Showcases Renovations and Drug Court Program on Dec. 3
Lee County officials are set to host an open house on December 3, 2023, at the court services building located at 309 S. Galena Ave. in Dixon. The event, which runs from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, is free and open to the public, offering attendees an opportunity to explore recent renovations and learn about significant technology upgrades in the courthouse.
During the open house, visitors will have the chance to tour the newly renovated courtroom situated on the fourth floor. Lesley Dever, the 15th Circuit Court Administrator, emphasized the importance of the event, stating that it will feature a presentation on the new courtroom technology upgrades starting at 3:00 PM. Additionally, a special segment at 3:30 PM will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Lee County Drug Court program.
The Lee County Drug Court, initiated in 2005, serves as an alternative to incarceration for high-risk offenders grappling with substance abuse disorders. This program aims to assist individuals in addressing their addiction issues while reducing the likelihood of reoffending. Dever noted that the Drug Court’s focus is on rehabilitation rather than punishment, providing critical support to those who need it most.
This open house not only highlights the technological advancements within the court system but also underscores the commitment of Lee County to foster rehabilitation through its Drug Court program. Community members are encouraged to attend and engage with local officials, learning more about the resources available to support individuals in their recovery journeys.
