Release Date for ROG Xbox Ally Set for October 16, Retailer Confirms

A retailer leak has revealed that the highly anticipated ROG Xbox Ally, a collaboration between Asus and Microsoft, is set to launch on October 16. This information comes from a reliable source, the Dealabs insider known as billbil-kun, who indicates that while this date pertains specifically to Europe, it is expected to be similar across other markets.

Pre-orders for the handheld device are slated to begin on August 20, coinciding with Gamescom, the prominent gaming event in Germany where Xbox is expected to showcase numerous titles alongside the ROG Xbox Ally. An official announcement regarding the release date and anticipated pricing is likely to be made during the event.

According to previous reports by billbil-kun, the base model of the ROG Xbox Ally will retail for €599 (approximately C$959), while the more advanced Ally X model will be priced at €899 (around C$1,440). These figures suggest a significant cost for consumers, especially when considering that direct currency conversions do not always reflect local pricing strategies.

The ROG Xbox Ally retains the architecture of Asus’s standard ROG Ally but incorporates distinctive Xbox-branded buttons. The entry-level white model features an AMD Ryzen Z2A processor, 16GB of memory, and 512GB of storage. It also sports a 7-inch 720p display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The black ROG Xbox Ally X, on the other hand, offers enhanced specifications, including an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of memory, 1TB of storage, and a 7-inch 1,080p display, also with a 120Hz refresh rate.
