Samsung Confirms Final Development Stage of Tri-Fold Phone
Samsung is poised to unveil its highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone, which is currently in the “final stage” of development. The announcement was confirmed by TM Roh, head of Samsung’s mobile division, during the IFA technology event. Roh reiterated that the company aims to launch the device by the end of 2025, echoing previous statements made in July.
While specific details regarding the device’s name and features remain undisclosed, the timeline suggests that the official launch could occur soon. A well-known Chinese tipster has indicated that the device may debut on September 29, 2025. If this date holds true, Samsung is expected to confirm it shortly, as the end of the year approaches quickly.
Limited Availability and Production Plans
The tri-fold smartphone will reportedly be available only in select markets, specifically China and Korea. Samsung aims to test the waters with this first-generation model, which will be produced in limited quantities. Initial plans suggest the company will manufacture approximately 50,000 units for this launch phase.
Despite the excitement surrounding the device, potential buyers should prepare for a hefty price tag. While the exact cost remains unconfirmed, industry estimates suggest it will surpass the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which retails at $1,999. Analysts expect the tri-fold model to be significantly more expensive, reflecting its advanced technology and innovative design.
Competition in the Tri-Fold Market
Currently, the tri-fold smartphone market is sparse, with only two devices announced to date, both from Huawei. The Huawei Mate XT was released last year, followed by the Mate XTs earlier this year. Samsung’s entry into this niche segment could mark a pivotal moment in the evolution of foldable smartphones, as the company seeks to establish itself as a leader in this emerging technology.
As excitement builds around Samsung’s upcoming device, consumers and industry analysts alike will be closely monitoring the company’s next steps. The success of the tri-fold smartphone could reshape the competitive landscape of the mobile market and set new standards for innovation in smartphone design.
