Samsung Galaxy S23 Users Get First Look at One UI 8 Beta
Samsung Galaxy S23 owners can now download the first beta version of One UI 8, marking the beginning of a significant software upgrade for their devices. This new operating system is based on Android 16 and includes the September 2025 security patch, providing users with enhanced features and improved security.
New Features and Enhanced Usability
The One UI 8 beta introduces a host of new features along with a more intuitive design. Notably, the Quick Share function has been revamped with a full-screen interface. This change simplifies the process of sharing files with nearby devices. Additionally, the Samsung Internet browser has been redesigned to offer easier access to frequently used features, enhancing the overall user experience.
Core applications, such as Weather and Reminders, have also received visual updates, making them more appealing and user-friendly. For power users, One UI 8 brings significant improvements in multitasking. The updated Samsung DeX now supports external displays with new rotation options, boosting productivity. An enhanced split-screen view allows users to run one app in a mostly full-screen format, while a second app remains open in a smaller window. This design facilitates easy switching between applications with a single tap.
Privacy and Accessibility Enhancements
Beyond interface updates, One UI 8 introduces deeper changes aimed at enhancing privacy and accessibility. The Secure Folder feature now offers additional layers of privacy, including options to hide apps and prevent notifications from appearing when locked. Users will also benefit from a new voicemail feature for missed calls, along with improved accessibility tools. For instance, users can now control the mouse cursor using a physical keyboard, making navigation more efficient.
The beta version of One UI 8 is currently available for the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra in selected regions. Samsung is expected to expand this beta program to additional countries shortly. Eligible users can enroll by accessing the Samsung Members app and locating the beta program announcement. Once enrolled, they can download the 3.1GB update to explore the new features. Users are encouraged to report any bugs they encounter, aiding Samsung in refining the final product before its official release.
This latest update represents a significant advancement for Samsung’s flagship devices, promising an improved user experience that combines functionality with enhanced security.
