Summit Nanotech Launches Demonstration Plant to Boost Lithium Projects

Summit Nanotech has announced the construction of a state-of-the-art demonstration plant at its facility in Santiago, Chile, aimed at accelerating the development of commercial lithium projects. This facility will utilize direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology to streamline project design, significantly reducing both time and financial risk compared to traditional field demonstrations.
The newly established plant is set to begin processing customer brine deliveries in January 2026, with the capacity to receive up to 30 m³ of brine via tanker. Within a span of 2-3 months, it will produce an asset-specific commercial design report tailored to the needs of its clients. This report will encompass key findings that will aid in the decision-making process for final investment.
By shifting the demonstration process in-house, Summit Nanotech aims to cut typical project timelines by 75% and reduce demonstration costs by 90%. Amanda Hall, the company’s CEO and Founder, emphasized, “Our goal is to de-risk commercial plant design by giving customers everything they need to confidently advance their projects, without the time, complexity, and cost of a field demo. This is how we drive the industry to scale smarter and faster.”
Advancing Lithium Extraction Technology
Summit Nanotech’s DLE technology is recognized for its high efficiency and reliability, outperforming traditional methods in both economics and environmental sustainability. The company’s modular systems and advanced sorbents, developed in North America, produce high-purity lithium from brine sources located in Chile, Argentina, and the United States. This innovative approach also emphasizes water efficiency, addressing environmental concerns associated with lithium extraction.
Currently, Summit operates a field demonstration plant in Chile and is actively forming sorbent and technology supply agreements for projects that will yield over 5 kt/y LCE. This positions the company as a pivotal player in the lithium market, which is increasingly important for the growing demand in electric vehicle production and renewable energy storage.
Opportunities for Collaboration
The establishment of the in-house demonstration plant opens a pathway for lithium developers to validate their assets efficiently. Companies interested in leveraging Summit Nanotech’s capabilities are encouraged to reach out to secure their participation in the testing process.
As the global market shifts toward sustainable energy solutions, Summit Nanotech is committed to leading the charge in lithium extraction technology. By facilitating faster, more cost-effective project development, the company is poised to make a significant impact in the lithium sector, driving innovation and sustainability in a rapidly evolving industry.
