Tactical Autobattler ‘Xenopurge’ Launches with New Features Today
Xenopurge, a tactical autobattler inspired by science fiction themes, officially launches today with its full 1.0 release on Steam. Developed by Traptics and published by Firequid, the game is priced at $12.49 and €12.49, and it comes with a limited-time 30% launch discount. Players can now engage in a strategic battle for humanity against alien threats.
The game has garnered significant attention in the indie gaming community. Recently, it was awarded the title of Most Innovative Game at Indie X 2025 and received a nomination for the upcoming GWB Game Awards. During its Early Access phase, Xenopurge achieved a Very Positive rating from players, reflecting its strong reception.
New Content and Features Enhance Gameplay
This full release introduces a wealth of new content, significantly expanding the gameplay experience. A standout addition is the Bioweave Cell squad, which is designed to collect enemy DNA for unlocking bio modifications that evolve over time. This squad emphasizes a balance between risk and reward, providing players with fresh tactical challenges.
In addition, the update features a complete story campaign, enhanced difficulty options, and four variants for each squad, bringing the total number of starting loadouts to sixteen. New commands and weapons have also been incorporated, enriching the strategic choices available to players.
The aesthetic of Xenopurge embraces a unique cassette futurist style, reminiscent of classic Hollywood depictions of industrial science fiction. Players take on the role of a remote commander working for M A C E (Mercers Advanced Combat Enterprises), operating from a bank of monochrome screens. Each mission tasks players with deploying elite units into hostile environments overrun by alien forces.
Strategic Command and Tactical Depth
Success in Xenopurge hinges on players’ decision-making skills. Every choice—from gear upgrades to troop positioning—can determine whether a squad advances or is overwhelmed by adversaries. Although players do not physically engage on the battlefield, they bear the weight of responsibility for their squad’s survival.
Missions require players to direct their squads effectively, searching rooms, securing objectives, and neutralizing threats. The game challenges players to think strategically, ensuring that every action shapes the outcome of the encounter. As players navigate through these hostile facilities, the tension builds, enhancing the immersive experience of this tactical autobattler.
Overall, the official launch of Xenopurge marks an exciting development within the indie gaming landscape, inviting players to explore its innovative mechanics and engaging narrative. The combination of strategic depth and unique aesthetic makes it a noteworthy addition to the genre.
