Vivo Unveils Powerful 50MP Ultrawide Camera for X300 Ultra
Vivo has officially announced key specifications for its upcoming flagship smartphone, the X300 Ultra, including a standout feature: a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. This revelation comes from Han Boxiao, Vivo’s Product Manager, who detailed the camera’s capabilities, highlighting its impressive sensor size and performance.
The ultrawide camera will utilize the Sony LYT-818, also known as the LYTIA 818 sensor. Measuring at 1/1.28 inches, this sensor is notably larger than many primary camera sensors found in competing smartphones. With a focal length of 14mm, it promises to deliver exceptional image quality, positioning the X300 Ultra as a serious contender in the smartphone photography landscape.
Advanced Camera Features and Specifications
The X300 Ultra is building on the strengths of its predecessor, the X200 Ultra, which already made a name for itself in the ultrawide segment. This latest model continues to innovate, with the addition of an intriguing fourth camera sensor, hinted at with a sunglasses emoji in promotional materials. Speculation suggests this could be a 5-megapixel multispectral sensor, though details remain unconfirmed.
In addition to the ultrawide camera, the X300 Ultra is set to feature a remarkable main camera equipped with the Sony LYT-901, a flagship 200-megapixel sensor. This 1/1.12-inch sensor incorporates cutting-edge technology aimed at elevating photography standards. The periscope telephoto camera will also match this high performance, featuring a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP0 sensor enhanced by ZEISS optics and a robust three-degree optical image stabilization (OIS) system.
Vivo announced these specifications during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 held in Barcelona, marking the first global launch for the X300 Ultra. While the exact release date is still under wraps, it is anticipated to debut before the end of March 2024. There is some uncertainty regarding whether the Chinese and global launches will occur simultaneously, which may affect the availability of the device in various markets.
Battery and Additional Features
In a related development, industry tipster Ice Universe has suggested that the X300 Ultra will be equipped with a substantial 6,800mAh battery. This large capacity aligns with Vivo’s strategy to provide a comprehensive user experience, ensuring that the device can support intensive camera usage and other features without frequent recharging.
With its innovative camera system and strong specifications, the Vivo X300 Ultra aims to redefine expectations in the flagship smartphone market. As the launch approaches, consumers and industry experts alike are eager to see how these features translate into real-world performance, especially in the increasingly competitive landscape of mobile photography.
