Volatus Aerospace and ARCO Partner for Drone Training in Nigeria
Volatus Aerospace Inc. has entered into a significant partnership with ARCO Worldwide Services Limited (AWS) to provide drone training programs in Nigeria. Announced on October 15, 2025, the collaboration will utilize the resources of ARCO Aviation Academy (AAA) to deliver professional drone training aligned with international standards.
The agreement, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), allows Volatus Aerospace to supply its comprehensive curriculum, training materials, and instructor programs. These resources will be delivered locally by AAA under a co-branded framework. The initiative aims to enhance Nigeria’s drone pilot training programs, ensuring they comply with regulations set forth by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and international standards such as ICAO and SORA.
Expanding Drone Training in Nigeria
AAA is an NCAA-approved aviation organization that currently offers foundational Remote Pilot Aircraft Systems (RPAS) courses. With this new partnership, the academy plans to broaden its offerings to include advanced and specialized training. This will cover areas such as thermography, LiDAR, and operations beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), targeting sectors including industry, defense, public safety, and first responders.
Glen Lynch, CEO of Volatus Aerospace Inc., stated, “This collaboration marks an important milestone in our mission to expand safe, professional drone operations worldwide.” He emphasized that the partnership will help accelerate local workforce development and bolster Nigeria’s position as a leader in the West African drone industry.
Okosubide Mozimo, Managing Director of ARCO Worldwide Services, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. He remarked, “This partnership brings globally recognized drone training programs to Nigeria for the first time. Together with Volatus, we will empower a new generation of certified drone professionals and enhance safety, compliance, and innovation across the sector.”
Framework and Future Plans
The MOU establishes a three-year framework for cooperation that includes the delivery of localized curriculum, instructor training, and ongoing quality assurance. The initial training programs are anticipated to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Volatus Aerospace is renowned for its innovative solutions in aerial operations for intelligence and cargo. With a legacy of over 100 years of combined expertise in aviation, the company aims to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability in various sectors through its drone technologies.
ARCO Worldwide Services, a subsidiary of ARCO Group Plc, serves the energy and industrial sectors in Nigeria. Its aviation arm, ARCO Aviation Academy, is licensed for RPAS pilot instruction and advanced aviation training programs.
This partnership represents a forward-thinking approach to drone training in Nigeria, positioning the country to leverage modern technologies for economic and safety advancements. As the demand for skilled drone operators continues to grow, initiatives like this will be essential for fostering a robust and compliant drone industry.
For further details, stakeholders are encouraged to stay informed as the collaboration progresses and initial programs roll out.
