Zinwa Technologies Revives BlackBerry Classic as Modern Android Device

The iconic BlackBerry Classic is making a comeback, albeit in a new form. Chinese company Zinwa Technologies has reengineered the classic Q20 model, transforming it into the Zinwa Q25 Pro, now powered by Android 13. This updated device combines nostalgia with modern technology, appealing to both long-time BlackBerry fans and new users looking for a unique smartphone experience.
The Zinwa Q25 Pro features significant upgrades, including a new mainboard equipped with a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage. The device also boasts enhanced camera capabilities, with a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, catering to users who prioritize photography. A 3,000mAh battery ensures adequate power, while USB-C connectivity modernizes the charging experience.
Positive Reception from Tech Enthusiasts
Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble and a notable figure in the tech community, shared his enthusiasm for the Q25 Pro, stating that it “feels so good” to use. He highlighted the device’s seamless integration of the new components into the classic design, noting that it retains the original display while upgrading the camera and charging port. Migicovsky’s endorsement underscores the blend of nostalgia and functionality that Zinwa aims to deliver with this device.
In a tweet posted on August 14, 2025, he expressed his excitement about holding a BlackBerry again, praising the comfort of the soft-touch back and the overall feel of the phone. His sentiments reflect a broader interest in devices that combine retro aesthetics with modern performance.
Pricing and Availability
For those interested in acquiring the Zinwa Q25 Pro, the device is available for US$420 (approximately C$580). In addition, there is a US$320 (around C$440) mod kit for existing Q20 owners who wish to upgrade their devices with the latest components. Both options can be purchased through the Linkaplus website, which offers free shipping, including to Canada.
Zinwa Technologies’ innovation not only revives a beloved device but also positions it within the competitive smartphone market, appealing to a niche audience that values both history and modern capability. The Zinwa Q25 Pro is a testament to how technology can bridge the gap between past and present, providing consumers with a familiar yet enhanced experience.
