54-40 Rocks Hope Brigade Days, 6,000 Attend Record-Breaking Event
URGENT UPDATE: Canadian rock band 54-40 electrified over 6,000 attendees at this year’s Hope Brigade Days, held on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2023. The event, which took place at the 6th Avenue Fairgrounds, shattered previous attendance records, marking a significant moment for the community.
Organizers confirmed this year’s festival was the most successful in its 56-year history. Lori Isbister, president of the Brigade Days committee, expressed her excitement:
“I would say it was probably the best attendance we’ve ever had. It was very successful and I know that there was a grand reunion this year, and people that hadn’t seen each other for a long time were seeing each other up at the fairground.”
She highlighted the community spirit, stating more residents are eager to participate because “Hope is just a fun place to be.”
The event was made possible by dedicated volunteers, many of whom arrived at 6 a.m. to help with setup. Isbister extended gratitude to local businesses and sponsors for their unwavering support.
This year’s festivities featured a lineup of exciting events, including the Envision Financial Grand Parade, Logger Sports, and the Extreme Lumberjack show. The parade showcased participants from various community groups, including the Hope Legion, Hope Army Cadets, and local emergency services. Notably, the Hope Icebreakers, a Senior AA Men’s Hockey team, made a triumphant return after a 16-year absence.
The festival atmosphere was further enhanced by the return of the Briggie Bazaar at the Hope Curling Rink, featuring 52 vendors from across the region. Attendees delighted in carnival rides and games provided by Shooting Star Amusements.
The evening culminated with a performance by 54-40, who had the crowd dancing and singing along. Their set followed a well-received performance by Barracuda, a Heart tribute band that left the audience clamoring for an encore. To cap off the night, festival-goers were treated to an Ozzy Osbourne laser show, honoring the late rock icon.
This year’s Hope Brigade Days not only celebrated music and entertainment but also fostered community connections, marking a triumphant occasion for Hope, British Columbia. As the excitement continues, residents and visitors alike are already looking forward to next year’s festivities.
