81-Year-Old Charged with Sexual Assault in Sault Ste. Marie
URGENT UPDATE: An 81-year-old man in Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with sexual assault following a disturbing incident reported last week. The incident occurred outside a business in the 200 block of Second Line West at approximately 10 a.m. on September 22, prompting immediate police action.
Authorities confirm that a 911 call was made reporting the assault. According to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the accused allegedly approached the victim’s vehicle, knocked on the window, and engaged in unwanted sexual contact once the victim rolled down the window. Importantly, the victim and the accused are not known to one another, highlighting the random nature of this alarming act.
Officers swiftly located the suspect and took him into custody, where he now faces serious charges. The accused has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on November 24.
