Anonymous Bills Fan Urges Toronto to Stop Cheering Amid ‘Curse’
URGENT UPDATE: An anonymous Buffalo Bills fan is urgently calling on Toronto sports enthusiasts to cease their support for the team, citing a so-called “curse” that could jeopardize the Bills’ Super Bowl ambitions. The plea comes in the wake of the Bills’ recent loss to the Miami Dolphins, which dropped their record to 6-3 and left them trailing the New England Patriots in the AFC Division.
The fan expressed their concerns through a poignant, laminated sign spotted at Queen and Church Street in downtown Toronto. It reads: “If you love us, you’ll let us go. It’s not us, it’s you. Halloween may be over, but your curse isn’t.” This unusual appeal follows the Bills’ defeat last weekend, raising alarms among fans about the team’s inconsistent performance this season.
The poster taps into the shared frustrations of Toronto sports fans, referencing the Toronto Blue Jays heartbreaking loss in Game 7 of the World Series and labeling the Toronto Raptors as “hopeless.” The anonymous author’s message is clear: Torontonians should refrain from rooting for Buffalo, fearing the impact of the alleged Toronto curse.
In a humorous twist, the fan suggests a sort of geographical separation, stating, “Niagara Falls is already split – that’s done. We’ll take Lake Erie, and you take Lake Ontario.” They even propose that Torontonians only visit Buffalo when the Bills are on the road, suggesting trips to the popular Trader Joe’s grocery store every other weekend.
This isn’t the first time the rivalry has been highlighted; a similar poster surfaced in October, signed by “Bills Mafia,” which also featured Canadian spelling, hinting it might have originated from someone in Toronto. This earlier sign appeared just before the Blue Jays’ World Series run, which ultimately did not alter Toronto’s reputation for sports misfortunes.
The relationship between Buffalo and Toronto sports has a complex history, with the Bills hosting seven games at the Rogers Centre from 2008 to 2013. This past summer, the Bills even entered a partnership with Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment aimed at promoting football in Canada.
As the Bills navigate their tumultuous season, fans on both sides are keenly watching how this curious plea will resonate. Can a mere sign truly influence the fate of a football season? The stakes are high as the Bills aim for playoff positioning, and fans are left to ponder: should Toronto really back off?
Stay tuned for further developments on this story as the sports community responds to the unique call for separation between Buffalo and Toronto fans.
