Apple Picking Season Ends Early at Barrie Hill Farms Due to Crop Shortage
UPDATE: Apple picking season has concluded early at Barrie Hill Farms in Springwater due to a lighter-than-expected crop. The orchard officially wrapped up its pick-your-own apple season after a bustling weekend that saw an “amazing turnout” from local families eager to harvest apples.
Farmer Morris Gervaise announced the news in a heartfelt Facebook post on Monday, expressing disappointment over the season’s premature end while extending gratitude to the community for their support. “I am so grateful to everyone who came out to help us harvest our crop and enjoy the apple season while it lasted,” Gervaise stated.
This year’s apple yield was significantly impacted by a dry spring, which led to a reduced harvest period. Despite the orchard being fully picked out, Barrie Hill Farms reassures customers that ample apples remain available for purchase. Staff members have been busy collecting fruit from the tops of trees to stock the market for eager shoppers.
Families still have plenty of opportunities for fun at the farm, which will continue to host Fall Fun Days every weekend through Thanksgiving. These events feature wagon rides to the pumpkin patch, live music, local vendors, and delicious treats, ensuring that the community can still celebrate the season, even without apple picking.
The early conclusion of the apple picking season at Barrie Hill Farms is a significant development for local families who look forward to this annual tradition. As the farm transitions to fall festivities, the community can still enjoy a host of activities, providing a silver lining to the unexpected early end of apple harvesting.
Stay tuned for more updates as Barrie Hill Farms continues to offer exciting autumn experiences in the coming weeks. Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy the fall season!
