Barenaked Ladies Rock Holiday Train, Raises $10,000 for Food Bank
UPDATE: The CPKC (Canadian Pacific Kansas City) Holiday Train rolled into the East Kootenay on December 14, delivering festive cheer and a significant boost to local charities. The train’s stops included Sparwood, Fernie, Jaffray, and Cranbrook, where it drew enthusiastic crowds eager to celebrate the holiday spirit.
During the event, Julie Rose, Executive Director of the Cranbrook Food Bank Society, accepted a generous cheque for $10,000 from CPKC. Rose highlighted the community’s unwavering support, stating, “The record-setting 1,800 pounds of food collected in Cranbrook is proof that the community keeps showing up for our neighbours in need.” This impactful donation will directly aid those facing food insecurity during the holiday season.
Fans were treated to a spectacular performance by the iconic band Barenaked Ladies, led by Ed Robertson. The group entertained a large crowd that packed both sides of Van Horne Street, performing beloved hits like “One Week” and “If I Had A Million Dollars,” along with festive covers of holiday classics. The excitement in the air was palpable, with concert-goers expressing their gratitude for both the entertainment and the cause.
