BC Motocross Championships Roars Back to 100 Mile House This Weekend!
UPDATE: The BC Motocross Championships roared back to 100 Mile House this past weekend for the first time in over three decades! The highly anticipated event occurred from September 6 to 7, 2025, at the South Cariboo Track and Trail Dirtbike Association, marking round six of this year’s championship series.
The excitement was palpable as the community welcomed the series, organized by Future West Moto. According to event organizer Ryan Lockhart, this championship series spans eight rounds, kicking off in April and concluding at the end of September. Lockhart emphasized the significance of returning to 100 Mile House, noting, “I think the last time a race was held here was in the early 1990s.”
This resurgence comes after the local motocross club reached out to Future West Moto, eager to host the event and inject new energy into the community. Lockhart stated, “We said, yeah, sure, why not?” The response from locals has been overwhelmingly positive, with Lockhart describing the community’s reaction as “fantastic.”
Approximately 24 classes of racers showcased their skills on the South Cariboo course, drawing competitors from regions including Kelowna, Kamloops, and Fort St. John. Lockhart remarked, “It’s a big following. A good majority is in the Southern Interior.”
Among the competitors was Lee Caldwell from Krestova, who participated to “have a lot of fun,” finishing with placements of 6th, 11th, and 6th in his classes. Fellow racer Lincoln Green from Lake Country echoed Caldwell’s sentiments, expressing his love for the sport, saying, “I always liked two wheels…and I’ve been doing it ever since.”
The event not only thrilled participants but also boosted the local economy significantly. Lockhart noted the influx of visitors benefiting local grocery stores, restaurants, and hotels. “I had to think that the local businesses see a big influx in business,” he added.
Here are the top results from the weekend’s championship:
– 1st: Brooklyn Grant (Halfmoon Bay, B.C.)
– 2nd: Rory Coulombe (150 Mile House, B.C.)
– 3rd: Hayden Emery (Chilliwack, B.C.)
In various classes, competitors like Konnor Moskal (Kelowna) and Ashton Akers (Campbell River) dominated, while Ryan Lockhart from Surrey also made notable appearances across multiple races.
The energy of the event was infectious, embodying the spirit of community and competition. As the BC Motocross Championships continue to gain momentum, this weekend’s success marks a pivotal moment for local sports and a return to thrilling motocross action in 100 Mile House.
