Burlington Jazz Fest Features Tribute to Michael Bublé This Weekend
URGENT UPDATE: Burlington is set to experience a thrilling musical weekend as the Jazz on the Plaza festival kicks off from August 8 to August 10, 2025. This beloved summer event, held at the corner of Elgin and Locust streets, promises an exciting lineup, including a special tribute to Canadian icon Michael Bublé performed by Ontario-based musician Jay Davis.
Tonight at 6:00 p.m., Jay Davis will launch the festival with his tribute act, Feeling Bublé, showcasing the charm and energy of Bublé’s most popular hits. Jazz enthusiasts can expect a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of the Roaring Twenties, complete with lively performances from renowned artists like Amanda Martinez, Heather Bambrick, and Alex Pangman throughout the weekend.
In an exclusive interview, Davis shared his passion for Bublé’s music and the unique approach he brings to his performances. “What I really enjoy about Bublé is the way he phrases stuff,” he explained. His five-year journey as a tribute artist has allowed him to absorb Bublé’s jazz phrasing and timing, enhancing his own style while staying true to the beloved artist’s essence.
Davis emphasized the importance of blending personal style with Bublé’s iconic sound. “I’ve developed my own jazz style. I practice all the time, and singing brings me so much joy,” he said. His commitment to honing his craft and experimenting with musical phrasing has captivated audiences across Canada.
Looking ahead to the festive season, Davis will return to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre on December 6, 2025, for a special holiday show, Jay Davis — Feeling Bublé Christmas. “We’re adding backup vocals and new instrumentation to create a fresh experience,” he noted. “People relate to Bublé at Christmas, and I want to bring that joy to Burlington.”
As the festival unfolds, Burlingtonians are encouraged to come out and support local talent while enjoying the enchanting sounds of jazz. With Davis’s vibrant tribute kicking off the weekend, Jazz on the Plaza promises to be an unforgettable experience for music lovers.
