Canada Unveils Olympic Roster as NHL Stars Gear Up for Games
UPDATE: Canada has officially unveiled its 25-man roster for the upcoming Olympics, marking the return of NHL players for the first time in 12 years. The announcement was made earlier today, igniting excitement among fans as the team prepares for its first game against Czechia on February 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. ET.
The roster includes a powerhouse lineup featuring superstars such as Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, and Sidney Crosby, who were named to the preliminary roster back in June. Now, they are joined by 19 additional NHL players, showcasing Canada’s depth and talent in a bid for Olympic gold.
Among the notable selections, Macklin Celebrini has made headlines with an impressive start to the NHL season. With 60 points in 39 games, he ranks third among Canadian players, solidifying his spot on the roster. However, Connor Bedard, despite his early-season hype, was not selected, raising eyebrows among fans and analysts alike.
The forward lineup is rounded out by emerging talents and seasoned veterans, including Brayden Point, Mark Stone, and Brad Marchand. Notable newcomers like Nick Suzuki and Tom Wilson also made the cut, while players like Sam Bennett and Travis Konecny were left off after their previous participation in the 4 Nations.
On defense, Canada has opted for consistency, retaining the same group that represented them during the 4 Nations. This includes elite players like Cale Makar and Drew Doughty, ensuring a formidable backline as they aim to thwart opposing offenses.
In goal, Jordan Binnington leads the charge after showcasing resilience during the 4 Nations, despite a challenging NHL season. He is joined by Darcу Kuemper, a previous Vezina nominee, and Logan Thompson, who brings impressive statistics to the team.
The anticipation is palpable as Canada prepares for the Olympic stage. Fans are eager to see how this roster, packed with talent and experience, will perform against top international competition.
As the games approach, all eyes will be on this dynamic team as they aim to reclaim Olympic glory. Stay tuned for further updates as the countdown to February 12 continues!
