This landmark goal not only clinches the win but also sets a franchise record for the Canadiens, showcasing Caufield’s clutch performance.
The Canadiens entered the third period with a commanding 3-0 lead, but the Kraken mounted a fierce comeback, tying the game before Caufield delivered the decisive blow just 44 seconds into overtime. With this victory, the Canadiens improved to 8-3 this season and 5-2 on the road, concluding a challenging four-game trip.
Caufield’s standout performance included two goals and an assist, bringing him to a tie for the NHL lead with nine goals this season. His overtime winner came after he skillfully maneuvered behind the net, catching Kraken goalie Joey Daccord off guard to slide the puck inside the post.

This intense matchup not only highlighted Caufield’s remarkable talent but also underscored the unpredictability of the NHL, where teams can rapidly shift momentum. UP NEXT: The Canadiens are set to host the Ottawa Senators this Saturday, while the Kraken will welcome the New York Rangers the same day.
