URGENT UPDATE: Halloween night in Waterloo Region is expected to be a chilly affair, as families prepare for a night of trick-or-treating amidst dropping temperatures. With the clock ticking down to the prime candy-collecting hours, Meteorologist Carl Lam has confirmed that while rain will dampen the day, the evening will bring a dry but frigid atmosphere.

Residents should brace for a wet start on October 31. Lam stated, “This Halloween, it’s going to be a wet start to the day. The good news is that by the time we get to about 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, in that prime trick-or-treating window, it’s not going to be wet.” This means families can venture out without the worry of rain, but they must be prepared for the cold.

According to Lam, temperatures will begin around 7°C at 5:00 PM but will plummet as the sun sets, dropping to approximately 5°C by 7:00 PM. The wind will exacerbate the chill, making it feel much colder—close to freezing. “Once the sun sets, that’s when things will start to cool down quite quickly,” Lam cautioned, urging families to bundle up with sweaters, mittens, and toques.

As families gear up for this Halloween, safety and warmth are top priorities. With the excitement of costumes and candy, the cold weather adds an extra layer of urgency for parents ensuring their children stay warm while enjoying the festivities.

Local communities are gearing up for a night filled with laughter and thrills, even as the weather poses challenges. Residents are encouraged to check the latest forecasts and prepare accordingly to ensure a fun and safe Halloween experience.

In summary, while rain might wash away the day, it looks like the night is shaping up for a dry but brisk Halloween in Waterloo Region. Make sure to stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy all the spooky fun!
