Christmas Cheer Breakfast Breaks Record with $2,327 Donation
BREAKING: The Christmas Cheer Breakfast Committee has just shattered records by donating an astounding $2,327.10 to the Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer program. The generous cheque was officially presented on Friday afternoon at the Christmas Cheer Workshop, marking a significant achievement for the annual community fundraiser.
The funds were raised during the Christmas Cheer Breakfast, held on November 29 at The Eagles Nest Bar and Grill. This year’s event featured a $25 breakfast, along with a silent auction, ticket raffle, and a 50/50 draw. Co-chair Len Isleifson expressed his excitement, stating, “This is the highest amount we’ve ever done,” surpassing the previous record of $1,500.
Isleifson attributed the remarkable increase to early planning and extensive outreach efforts. “Getting tickets out early and recruiting people to help sell tickets really made the difference,” he noted. As ticket sales surged leading up to the event, community members eagerly responded, contributing to the committee’s success.
He further shared, “I was hoping we could at least match what we’ve done in the past, but this just blew my mind.” The impact of this donation cannot be overstated, as it directly supports families in need during the holiday season.
At the cheque presentation, committee members including co-chair Barb Andrew, Jeff Harwood, and Robert Harrison joined Isleifson in celebrating the momentous occasion. Myrna Lane, vice-president of the Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer program, expressed gratitude, stating, “The need in our community continues to grow, and every dollar makes a difference.”
The Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer program plays a vital role in providing festive hampers, toys, and support to families across the region, ensuring that no one is left behind during the holidays. Lane highlighted the importance of community support: “We are so thankful to the Christmas Cheer Breakfast Committee for their commitment to helping us deliver hampers, toys, and warm holiday memories to families who need it most.”
Looking ahead, the Christmas Cheer Breakfast Committee is already planning for next year’s event, rebooking The Eagles Nest Bar and Grill for the last Saturday in November. Isleifson emphasized their goal of modest growth while maintaining the event’s successful formula. “We want to be careful not to overdo it. Our focus is to raise money for Christmas Cheer,” he stated.
This record-breaking donation not only reflects the generosity of the community but also sets a new baseline for future fundraising efforts. The committee is determined to build on this success in the years to come, ensuring that the spirit of giving remains strong in Brandon-Westman.
As this story develops, the community can look forward to more impactful initiatives aimed at supporting those in need during the festive season. Share this inspiring news and help spread the word about the incredible impact of community fundraising!
