Colwood’s Noah Manning Scores First NLL Goal in Debut Match
BREAKING: Colwood’s own Noah Manning has made an explosive entry into the National Lacrosse League (NLL) by scoring his first career goal during his debut match on December 7, 2025. Manning’s goal contributed to the Calgary Roughnecks’ 16-13 loss against the Saskatchewan Rush, marking a significant milestone in his professional journey.
“It was a pretty cool feeling,” the 22-year-old Manning exclaimed after the game. He reminisced about attending Vancouver Warriors games as a child, a full-circle moment that resonated deeply with him.
Manning’s rise in lacrosse began at Royal Bay Secondary, where he thrived in the school’s unique lacrosse program. “That program is pretty unique, and I’m so fortunate I got to go there,” he reflected. His younger brother, Grayson Manning, has also made waves in the sport, earning MVP honors at the 2025 Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship and securing a scholarship at the University of Denver as a goaltender.
Following his high school career, Noah committed to the University of Denver, where he played in 57 games from 2022 to 2025, recording 83 goals and 39 assists. He credits his development to Denver’s esteemed head coach, Bill Tierney, saying, “He was instrumental in my development and helped me not just become a better player, but a better human.”
Drafted ninth overall by the Calgary Roughnecks in 2025, Manning aims to become a key player for his team. “I just want to contribute in any way I can,” he stated, emphasizing his ambition to earn his place on the floor.
In addition to his lacrosse commitments, Manning is pursuing a degree at Vancouver Island University, working towards becoming a middle school teacher. “Teaching would be such a rewarding career,” he said. He is currently balancing his studies with a practicum in a Grade 7 classroom, reflecting his commitment to shaping young lives, inspired by his late father, Scott Manning, who was a principal in Greater Victoria until his passing in 2020.
As Manning prepares for his next challenge against the Toronto Rock on December 13, he continues to juggle the demanding lifestyle of a professional athlete and a dedicated student. “It’s a grind, but I wouldn’t want it any other way,” he affirmed, showcasing his determination and passion for both lacrosse and education.
Stay tuned for more updates on Noah Manning’s journey as he continues to make his mark in the NLL and beyond.
