UPDATE: Connor McDavid led the Edmonton Oilers to a stunning 6-3 victory over the Utah Mammoth on October 28, 2025, with a pair of goals and three assists from Evan Bouchard. This decisive win halted the Mammoth’s impressive seven-game winning streak.

The Oilers exploded for five goals in the second period, showcasing their offensive prowess and ending a two-game losing streak. McDavid’s performance marks a significant turnaround for the team, now standing at 5-4-2 for the season.

In addition to McDavid and Bouchard, Leon Draisaitl and Mattias Ekholm contributed with a goal and an assist each, while Isaac Howard and Ty Emberson also found the net. Draisaitl, who recently celebrated his 30th birthday, extended his own points streak to six games, totaling nine points during this span.

The Mammoth, despite the loss, had notable performances from Logan Cooley, JJ Peterka, and Barrett Hayton, who each scored. Cooley’s goal marked his eighth of the season and extended his points streak to four games with a remarkable nine points in that timeframe. Notably, Cooley has become the first player in league history to score all his first eight goals in the first period.

“The team showed resilience today. We knew we had to turn things around and we did,” said McDavid post-game.

Oilers’ goaltender Stuart Skinner made 20 saves to secure the win, while Karel Vejmelka of the Mammoth recorded 21 stops.

As the Mammoth prepare to host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, the Oilers will look to build on this momentum when they face the New York Rangers on Thursday.

This victory for the Oilers not only showcases their potential but also highlights the competitive nature of the league this season. Fans are left eager to see if the Mammoth can bounce back and whether the Oilers can maintain their newfound momentum.
