Cricket Stadium in Oswego Slated for 2027 Opening—Developing Now!

URGENT UPDATE: A proposed cricket stadium in Oswego is set to open in 2027, as confirmed by recent announcements from local officials. Oswego resident Paresh Patel of Chakra360 LLC is spearheading the project, which aims to transform 33.48 acres at the northwest corner of Orchard Road and Tuscany Trail into a professional cricket venue.
The stadium, named Breybourne Stadium, has been in planning since 2023. Recent updates on social media indicate that the financing process is ongoing. Oswego Economic Development Director Kevin Leighty emphasized the challenges of securing funding in the current economic climate, stating, “As one might imagine, borrowing and material costs remain high, so it takes quite a bit of capital to get a project of this scope off the ground.”
Construction for Phase 1 of the stadium was initially expected to start this spring, following a ruling by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that it does not have jurisdiction over the wetlands on the property. This crucial decision has cleared a significant hurdle for the project. In November 2023, the majority of Oswego village trustees voted 4-1 to approve a special use permit for Phase 1, which includes the construction of the playing field and installation of underground drainage systems.
The planned stadium will begin with a seating capacity of 2,000 fans and aim to expand to 6,000 in Phase 3 and eventually to around 14,000 in Phase 4. With this capacity, the stadium will be able to host national cricket events. Future plans include the addition of second and third-level seating, potentially accommodating between 24,000 and 25,000 spectators.
The stadium is designed to operate seasonally from April to October, with games primarily scheduled in the evenings and on weekends to minimize traffic disruption. Local residents have previously expressed concerns about noise and traffic. In response, Patel has committed to installing a six-foot privacy fence along the west property line and will collaborate with village officials on a traffic management plan to direct stadium traffic to Orchard Road, avoiding the residential areas of Tuscany Trail.
Patel believes the location is ideal for such a facility, stating, “Orchard Road is a highly traveled regional transportation corridor which can handle heavy traffic.” This development not only promises to enhance local sporting culture but also aims to bring significant economic benefits to the Oswego community.
As the project evolves, residents and cricket enthusiasts will be watching closely for more updates. Stay tuned for further developments on this exciting addition to Oswego’s landscape.
