CTV Vancouver Wins Canada’s Best Local Newscast Award Tonight!
BREAKING: CTV Vancouver’s weeknight 6 p.m. newscast was just named Canada’s best local television newscast at an award ceremony in Toronto. This prestigious recognition from the Radio Television and Digital News Association (RTDNA) highlights the exceptional dedication and quality of journalism that CTV Vancouver delivers to its viewers.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday night, and CTV Vancouver’s newscast, hosted by veteran journalist Mi-Jung Lee, distinguished itself in the large market television category. The RTDNA specifically commended the station for its outstanding coverage during a significant snowstorm that impacted Metro Vancouver last winter, showcasing their commitment to timely and relevant reporting.
In addition to the best newscast award, CTV Vancouver’s St John Alexander was recognized for Canada’s best video journalism of the year for a compelling story highlighting one of the region’s most neglected roads. This dual recognition emphasizes the station’s versatility and excellence in local news reporting.
CTV Vancouver’s news director, Ethan Faber, expressed gratitude for the team effort that goes into creating the newscast. “Putting together a local newscast is truly a team effort,” he stated. “From the research and planning to the camera work and editing, to the writing and technical production—everyone at CTV News plays an essential role in providing the community with high-quality local journalism.”
The award-winning newscast airs weeknights at 6 PM on CTV Vancouver and is also available online through the CTV News Vancouver website, ensuring that viewers can stay updated on breaking news and local developments at any time.
This significant achievement not only highlights the dedication of CTV Vancouver’s team but also underscores the importance of local journalism in connecting communities and delivering critical information. As local news continues to evolve in the digital age, CTV Vancouver stands out as a beacon of quality and reliability.
