Cultural Connections 2025 Celebrates Diversity in Brandon NOW
URGENT UPDATE: The city of Brandon is alive with cultural vibrancy as the inaugural Cultural Connections 2025 festival unfolds today, September 30, 2025, at Stanley Park. Organized by Westman Immigrant Services (WIS), the Brandon Local Immigration Partnership (BLIP), and the Westman Multicultural Festival Society, this landmark event aims to showcase the city’s rich cultural mosaic and celebrate the contributions of newcomers.
As the festival kicks off, officials report an anticipated attendance of up to 1,000 people. This significant turnout highlights Brandon’s growing cultural diversity, as emphasized by WIS spokesperson Hannah Stollery. “This is about recognizing how diverse Brandon is, making newcomers feel welcome, and showcasing their culture to the wider community,” Stollery stated.
The festival features nine to ten cultural pavilions, each presenting unique performances, traditions, and tastes from around the globe. Represented countries include the Philippines, India, Mauritius, El Salvador, Nigeria, Ukraine, and Colombia, alongside members of the Hispanic Association of Manitoba.
Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy a plethora of activities, including cultural dance and music performances, a fashion show showcasing traditional attire, and interactive experiences designed for families. Children can explore a bouncy castle, face painting, and traditional games from various cultures, including Colombia’s traditional activities and Mauritius’ Tonk.
Stollery noted the overwhelming enthusiasm from both participants and visitors, stating, “What has stood out to me is how passionate each of the different pavilions is about sharing their culture. That makes us excited to build on this success next year.” The success of this festival not only brings the community together but also sets the stage for an annual celebration during Welcome Week.
As the event continues to unfold, the excitement is palpable, making Cultural Connections 2025 one of the most vibrant multicultural gatherings in recent Brandon history. Don’t miss the chance to witness this extraordinary display of culture and unity in your community today!
