Dallas Stars Crush Oilers 8-3 with Explosive First Period
UPDATE: The Dallas Stars delivered a commanding performance with an 8-3 victory over the struggling Edmonton Oilers on November 25, 2025. The Stars surged to a staggering 4-0 lead in the first period, showcasing their dominance early in the game.
Wyatt Johnston was the standout player, contributing one goal and three assists. His impressive play helped Dallas secure its seventh win in the last nine games, now boasting a record of 14-5-4. The Stars’ offensive onslaught included goals from Jason Robertson, Nathan Bastian, Jamie Benn, and Sam Steel, with Roope Hintz and Justin Hryckowian also finding the back of the net.
The Oilers, now with a record of 10-10-5, are struggling to regain form, having lost four of their last five games. Rookie Connor Clattenburg scored his first NHL goal, but it was not enough to turn the tide against a relentless Stars team.
KEY MOMENT: Johnston’s second assist on the Stars’ fourth goal marked a significant milestone, giving him 100 career assists, complementing his 100 goals achieved just days prior. This accomplishment makes him the third-fastest player in franchise history to reach 200 career points.
Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger made 22 saves to secure the win, while Oilers’ Stuart Skinner struggled, managing only four saves on eight shots before being replaced by Calvin Pickard, who made 18 saves afterward.
The Stars’ performance was notably powerful even without star forward Mikko Rantanen, who served a one-game suspension. Rantanen leads the league in power-play points with 15 and penalty minutes with 57.
With this victory, the Dallas Stars are set to face the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday, further shaping their momentum in the season. Meanwhile, the Oilers will have a chance to regroup before their next match against the Kraken on Saturday.
This game marks a critical juncture for both teams as the Stars continue their pursuit of playoff positioning while the Oilers strive to overcome recent struggles. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as the season progresses.
