Driver Charged After Vernon Crash Injures Two on Highway 6

URGENT UPDATE: A driver has been charged following a serious three-vehicle crash in Vernon that sent two individuals to the hospital. The incident occurred on August 27, 2023, around 7:30 a.m. on Highway 6, near 25th Avenue and Polson Park.

Authorities from the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded swiftly to the scene, where a vehicle turning right from 25th Avenue reportedly crossed the center line. This reckless maneuver led to a collision with another car that was stopped in the left turn lane, resulting in a head-on crash with a third vehicle.

Emergency services transported two drivers to the hospital. Thankfully, both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to Cpl. Tania Finn, the media relations officer for the Vernon RCMP.

The driver responsible for the initial collision has been charged under the BC Motor Vehicle Act for driving without due care and attention. All three vehicles involved suffered significant damage and were towed from the scene, prompting road delays in the area.

This incident highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding road safety and the importance of vigilant driving. As authorities continue to investigate, residents are urged to remain cautious while traveling through the area.
